Phantasy Star Online 2 Open Beta

Following the release of Segas action role playing games Phantasy Star Universe for Xbox 360 in late 2006, Sega opened its servers last week in a beta test for 41,500 players, who connected online and could play up until level 30. The games producer, Satoshi Sakai explained that this was a new record for one of Sega's longest running action RPG games. The full game will be released later this year for PC, with cut down versions available for iOS and Android later this year and a PSP Vita release expected early 2013. There is no news on a console based version; suprising as the previous installment was available on both Playstation 2 and Xbox360. It will be intriguing to see cross platform support for mobile devices and how the multiple platforms integrate. The game will be free to play when released which is good news considering the declining fan base for subscription MMORPG games. There is currently no word on a release outside of Japan at this point.
