Prepare for Adventure with ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ Trailer

Director Peter Jackson won Oscars, the box office and hearts with his adaptations of J.R.R Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. He returns to Middle Earth with his two-part adaptation of that story's predecessor, The Hobbit. He’s beginning with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and you can check out the trailer below.

For a movie subtitled “An Unexpected Journey,” we’re basically getting what we expect with this trailer, and that’s not a bad thing at all. Like the “Lord of the Rings” films, there’s much attention paid to detail in the scenery and costuming. If nothing else, The Hobbit will be visually stunning. Martin Freeman seems particularly impressive as Bilbo Baggins, and Sir Ian McKellen looks to be turning in yet another exceptional performance as Gandalf.

You can follow Bilbo on his unexpected journey starting December 14, 2012.
