Human Head Studios revealed some pretty big changes for the Prey franchise today. In the sequel, you’re
not playing as Tommy the hero from the first game, and there are no portals for starters. Tommy is still a
part of the story but there was no information revealed about that.
The gameplay does show a pretty incredible looking game world which bears a lot of resemblance to that awesome CG trailer we saw. You take control of a bounty hunter and must use your skills to capture various targets. The game seems to take an open world approach and there will be different options for when you finally apprehend your target depending on the missions.
The gameplay seems to be light-years ahead of what was in the original Prey, you’ll gain a wide variety of weapons and gadgets that can be upgraded throughout the game. The depth of these customisations was not discussed but hopefully there will be several options depending on how you want to play the game. I think it’s a safe bet that the spirit bow won’t be making an appearance, which is a good thing as that always felt a little goofy in the original. Prey 2 is due out sometime next year and will be coming the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
