Rhys Ifans Attached to ‘Bond 23’

There is nothing like a Bond rumor, yet the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph believes they have something more substantiated: a report that Welsh actor Rhys Ifans will likely have a role in "Bond 23."

Ifans most recently appeared in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 as Xenophilius Lovegood and he has had a long career in movies such as Notting Hill and Mr. Nice. He is set to really make a name for himself in The Amazing Spider-Man as Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard.

The 43-year-old Welshman has appeared with "Bond" star Daniel Craig before, in the 2004 movie
Enduring Love, an adaptation of the Ian McEwan novel of the same name. Ifans played Craig’s stalker and two had some "chemistry" you won't likely see in "Bond." There is no word yet what role Ifans has been attached to, whether he would be a villain or an ally to Bond.

Naomie Harris (28 Days Later) has already been cast as Miss Moneypenny and top class actors like Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem and Rachel Weisz have been linked to the movie with Bardem expected to play the villain. It seems that director Sam Mendes and the producers are looking to outdo the amount of quality, well-known actors that typically grace a Bond movie.

South Africa has been chosen as one of the major locations for thie shoot, the first time a Bond movie will be filmed in Africa. South Africa was considered as a location for Casino Royale, but the deal fell through and The Bahamas was used. I’m sure the crew was gutted.
