Rod Fergusson Leaves Irrational Games

Rod Fergusson, VP of Development at Irrational Games is leaving the company. Rod joined the company in August last year to help ship Bioshock Infinite after the game was hit with numerous delays. Now the game is out to incredible reviews (read Entertainment Fuse’s review here), it seems that Rod is moving on to other projects. He is currently still at Irrational, but is in the process of leaving and is not sure where he will go next.

"During my departure from Epic, I learned that Irrational was in need of a 'closer' to help finish BioShock Infinite. I've been striving for better storytelling in the games I've worked on and I saw this as a great opportunity to learn from Ken and his team on how to build a truly story-driven game. I am very proud of the work that I did and of the team and what they were able to accomplish on Infinite. Now with the game shipped successfully, I've done what I set out to do here and now I'm looking forward to the next chapter in my life and career."

It was clear what Rod’s role at the company was and it is no surprise he is now moving on. Rod is actually rather underrated in the industry for his work but I for one will be very interested in whatever project he is a part of next.
