Sega announced today that the announcement of a three-game exclusive partnership with Nintendo with the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The first two games in the agreement are the two Sonic games announced in today’s Nintendo Direct: Sonic Lost World and Mario & Sonic at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

“Sonic the Hedgehog has performed incredibly well on Nintendo platforms and this exclusive partnership is a natural fit for the next evolution of Sonic games” commented Jurgen Post COO SEGA Europe Ltd in a press release. “The Wii U and Nintendo 3DS are ideal platforms to showcase Sonic and we are looking forward to working with Nintendo on these three exciting adventures.”

Post’s comment about Sonic performing well on Nintendo platforms is very true.
