Sequel to ‘Man of Steel’ Already Brewing at Warner Bros.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Nope, it’s
Warner Bros. planning too far ahead again and looking to create a superhero franchise way before the first egg has hatched. Word is the studio wants a sequel to
Man of Steel, even though Zack Snyder's take on Superman starring Henry Cavill is still filming.
ThinkMcFlyThink.com has sources quoting Warner Bros. execs as saying, “
We have a winner here, you fellas are gonna love it and we’re getting the ball rolling for more now because of that.” The studio already has a shortlist of writers, topped by their go-to guy
Steve Kloves (the "Harry Potter" series),
Travis Beacham (
Clash of the Titans,
Pacific Rim) and
Lawrence Kasdan (
Stars Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back,
Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark).
Warner Bros. has recently recruited a writer for a
third Sherlock Holmes movie and Sony has done the same for a
sequel to The Amazing Spider-man, so this trend is not that new. But they should always be a note of caution and remember what happened with
Terminator Salvation where a trilogy was promised.
The Zack Snyder directed Man of Steel will hit theaters in June 2013.
