In Christmas 2009, audiences ate up Robert Downey Jr. as a witty and gritty action-oriented version of famed literary sleuth Sherlock Holmes. As such, a sequel was on their 2011 wish list. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows welcomes Noomi Rapace (Swedish The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) as a card-reading gypsy of sorts and Jared Harris (Mad Men) as Holmes' greatest nemesis, Professor Moriarty. Returning as Watson is Jude Law along with director Guy Ritchie.
Judging by the looks of things, Ritchie got a lot more money to make things go boom with in this sequel. There seems to be a ton more action sequences, which overshadows (at least in the trailer) what will likely be delightful banter between Holmes and Watson.
We found the original "Sherlock Holmes" quite entertaining back in the early days of Player Affinity. Can "Game of Shadows" possibly live up with such a quick Hollywood turnaround? Find out Dec. 16.
