Sherlock Winter Special Premiere Date, Title and Trailer

After an almost two year hiatus, Sherlock fans will be relieved to know that there is finally more information about the show's winter special. On Saturday, BBC One announced via Twitter that the winter special will be called “Sherlock: The Abominable Bride." It will air on Jan. 1, 2016 in both the U.S. and the U.K., which is the first time that both countries will be able to see a Sherlock episode on the same day. Usually American fans have to wait even longer for episodes to air on Masterpiece PBS. Creator Steven Moffet also confirmed that this special is a stand alone episode and completely separate from the upcoming fourth season. Fans will have to continue waiting for the fourth season, which begins production in the spring. This 90 minute special will hopefully hold them over until then. The episode will feature Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Watson (Martin Freeman) in 1890s London. The episode will also star Amanda Abbington, Rupert Graves and Una Stubbs. Tune into “The Abominable Bride” at 9/8c on Friday, Jan. 1, 2016 on “Masterpiece Mystery!” on PBS and online at pbs.org/masterpiece. While you wait, check out the trailer below!
