Son of God Hits The Big Screen

You know the name. You know the story. It's been told in many ways, expressed in many mediums. The holidays are now upon us and you'll probably hear it told yet again. This is the story of Jesus of Nazareth, one nearly as old as time itself and if you've seen Mel Gibson's, The Passion of the Christ or The Last Temptation of Christ starring Willem Dafoe, you're aware of this man's journey. This new film, titled Son of God, is a follow-up to the hugely successful miniseries The Bible, and will reportedly take pieces from the series and mix them with scenes that weren't included in the original 10-hour telecast. It will move from Jesus' birth to the Virgin Mary, who'll be played by Touched by an Angel's, Roma Downey, to his crucifixion by the Romans and eventually his resurrection. Biblical epics are of course nothing new. You have the classic The Ten Commandments (1956) and the fantastically animated The Prince of Egypt (1998). Early next year will see the release of the star-studded Noah, but not before Son of God, which will be released February 28th, just five days before Ash Wednesday. Check out the trailer below!
