Spike Lee’s ‘Oldboy’ Might Enlist The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

With less than 10 minutes in the film, Rooney Mara was the emotional core of David Fincher’s The Social Network. It wasn’t surprising when the legendary director selected her to lead The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, but the actress might climb even further.

Sources tell Twitch that Mara is the top choice for the female lead in Spike Lee’s remake of the Korean film Oldboy. The film focuses on a man (Josh Brolin) seeking vengeance for being unjustly thrown into jail for 15 years. If Mara signs on for the film, she’ll play Marie, a young woman Brolin encounters after his release that helps him track down his captor.

Fincher’s “Dragon Tattoo” could very well make Mara a household name, so it’s not shocking that she’s being looked at for more roles in big-ticket films. What are your thoughts on this young starlet potentially starring in Oldboy?
