Splinter Cell: Blacklist Delayed Until August

One of the bigger surprises from Microsoft's E3 press-conference last June was the annoucement of a new game in the Splinter Cell franchise. Splinter Cell: Blacklist will also be the first in the series to not have main character Sam Fisher voiced by Michael Ironside, a decision that has divided fans of the series. Today, Ubisoft officially announced a release date for the game, and to much surprise, it won't be making it's original Spring 2013 release, as previously planned. The game's new release date is August 20, 2013. To help ease the pain for those that are waiting, Ubisoft also released this new trailer today.

Personally, I thought that Splinter Cell: Conviction was the highest point this series has been. The initial trailer showcasing Sam Fisher calling in airstrikes left me a bit confused on the direction this new entry is taking. Why does Sam Fisher look younger when this game takes place after the events of Conviction? Still, I am watching this with a hopeful eye that perhaps it will pan out to being a decent entry in the long running series. We will all know when Splinter Cell: Blacklist gets released on August 20, 2013 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC.
