The first details of the second game in the StarCraft II trilogy have finally been released. StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm will continue the story that started in Wings of Liberty and unlike the first game, you will take control of Sarah Kerrigan, The Queen of Blades. While the first game's single-player centered on the Terran race, Heart of the Swarm will switch the focus to the Zerg and this will lead to a huge change in the style of gameplay for the game's single-player.
In the first game you got to hop from planet to planet as James Raynor, but playing as Zerg will completely change the way the game is structured. In Heart of the Swarm you'll travel from planet to planet but each planet is a short series of four or so missions linked together by a story arc.
In the first game you scarcely got to control James Raynor directly, but much of the gameplay in Heart of the Swarm will have you directly controlling Kerrigan as a hero character with some powerful abilities. Wings of Liberty also featured some awesome upgrade mechanics and these are set to translate into Heart of the Swarm in some devastating ways. Check out the gameplay trailer below:
