Street Fighter X Tekken Announced

In a large white room filled with Street Fighter Cosplayers, Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono gave a brief introduction for what was dubbed “The Future of Street Fighter IV” panel at Comic-Con 2010. Joined on stage in Kris Kringle fashion, Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada approached the panel handing out copies of Tekken 6 from a large jolly sack. After rehearsed barbs were exchanged, both men were proud to unveil gameplay footage of Street Fighter X Tekken!

Although extremely early in development, the footage featured Street Fighters Ryu and Chun Li while Tekken was represented by Kazuya and Nina Williams. The game hinted at a two player tag-battle feature as well as double teaming techniques. The game will utilize the Street Fighter IV engine and appeared to faithfully represent Kazuya’s signature fighting style and attacks.

Namco will reciprocate by developing their version of the fighting game titled Tekken X Street Fighter, which will use the Tekken 6 engine. Little is known about the second Namco game except that it will release well after Capcom’s game. Street Fighter X Tekken has not been given a release window, but is slated for release on the PS3 and Xbox360.
