Turn off the Lights

Timesplitters 4 Campaign Shows No Signs Of Slowing Down

TimeSplitters: up there with the likes of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark as one of the best FPS multiplayers you’ll ever play. After the release of three incredible games, it seemed that the series had been laid to rest, especially when Developer Free Radical Design entered administration back in 2008. A sense of hope was restored when Crytek bought the company, renaming them Crytek UK. However, after years of apparently being in and out of development, there has been ever growing speculation as to whether TimeSplitters 4 will ever see the light of day.

When Cevat Yerli, the CEO of Crytek was asked about the possibility of TimeSplitters 4 he replied “Look, I wish we were working on it. The thing with TimeSplitters is, if we made a sequel to TimeSplitters, nobody would accept this apart from some fans, and we don't know how big the fan community is unfortunately.”

This reply has encouraged one avid fan, Daniel Wesoly, to start a TimeSplitters 4 campaign on social networking site Facebook, dedicated to making the release of Timesplitters 4 a possibility by showcasing the size of the TimeSplitters community. Daniel’s bid is to see the campaign reach 100,000 fans. Graeme Norgate, the composer of TimeSplitters soundtrack, has said that if the group does so, he will write a TimeSplitters-style victory piece. The group shows no signs of slowing down and is also trying to make the campaign a twitter trend with the hashtag #Timesplitters4

I encourage everyone who has ever played these games to support the campaign. It will be a shame if the FPS genre becomes stale with the domination of war based franchises (no names mentioned). The Facebook Group can be found here
