Tom Cruise accepts another Mission: Impossible

This will be one of the least surprising movie stories of the week but Tom Cruise has agreed to respire as role of Ethan Hunt for a fifth entry to the Mission: Impossible series.

Deadline has broken the news that Cruise has agreed terms with Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions to continue the lucrative series and end speculation that Jeremy Renner was set to replace him as the series lead. There is no confirmation yet about who will direct the fifth movie but current rumors are that Jack Reacher writer/director Christopher McQuirre is being lined up to write and direct the sequel.

The Mission: Impossible series have been a highly success series for Paramount, making over $2 Billion worldwide, with Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol making nearly $695 Million worldwide. All four movies have been met with moderate to good reviews and four top directors have helms a movie in the series.

Tom Cruise has recently lead Jack Reacher which made $216 Million from a $60 Budget and the sci-fi movie Oblivion which is still in theaters. His next movie is All You Need is Kill which is set to be released on 7 May 2014 and he has agreed terms to lead Guy Ritchie adaptation of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. with Armie Hammer.
