Actor Tom Hardy has been building a steady résumé in Hollywood for portraying tough characters. This summer he has played the title character in Mad Max: Fury Road, which earned rave reviews from critics and grossed an impressive $368.5 million worldwide for an R-rated feature. Many critics, including yours truly, agree that the movie set a new standard in action filmmaking. Hardy earned solid notices for his stoic portrayal of the brutish anti-hero. For his next project, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Hardy is on board to produce and possibly star in the movie adaptation of the gritty comic book 100 Bullets.

In the first move since taking oversight of DC Entertainment’s Vertigo comics line from corporate sibling Warner Bros., New Line is developing an adaptation of the acclaimed comic-book series by Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso. Hardy, who played villain Bane in The Dark Knight Riseswill produce with Dean Baker via the duo’s Hardy Son & Baker production company. The plot for the movie is being kept secret, but insiders say the plan is to stay true to the comic. Running for 100 issues from 1999 to 2009, the comic book series centers on an enigmatic man named Agent Graves as he presents different people, for reasons unknown, with a gun, the identity of the person who ruined their lives and a hundred rounds of untraceable ammunition.
