Turn off the Lights

Weekend Sales October First

It’s a great weekend for sales on downloadable PC games this week.  All of the major online stores are either winding down a big sale, or just starting one, so have a look at this mountain of cheap games you can grab if you act fast.

Gamersgate.com is still offering their Puzzleweek Sales, selling games like Puzzle Quest for up to 60% off, but they’ve also just begun Commandos Week, with every game in that Tactical combat franchise selling at 50% off, which comes out to around $2.50 for most of them.

A final note on Gamer’s Gate, they have a bundle of Cryostasis and Necrovision for $9.99.  That’s two underrated PC games for ten dollars.

The Electronic Arts Store has a promotional price on The Sims 3 right now.  It’s been marked down to $28.54.  The Expansion Pack, World Aventures is also on sale for $19.99, down from $29.99.  Direct2Drive.com had a Sixth Anniversary sale which ended yesterday.  This weekend D2D is holding a Weekend Doorbuster Deal; if you spend $49.95, you’ll get ten dollars off your next purchase.

If you miss D2D’s sale on Red Faction: Guerrilla, you can still pick it up for ten dollars over at Games For Windows Live, where it will be on sale until next Thursday.

ImpulseDriven.com has a bunch of “Impulse Buys” on sale this weekend.  The best choice there is the Unreal Pack, which has five games from that franchise; the original Unreal, Unreal II, Unreal Tournament, Tournament 2004, and Tournament III for twenty dollars.

Steam is selling Magic The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers for $4.99, and any of the expansion decks can be bought for fifty cents each.  You can also get the Complete Pack which includes the game and all thirty expansions for $17.49

I’m still furious at Gog.com for the shameful publicity stunt they pulled last week, but I have to give them credit; they’re making it up to us with some great new products and a nice sale this weekend.  They’ve recently added Baldur’s Gate and Planescape: Torment to their stable, and this weekend they’re putting ten of their most popular games on sale.  You can buy the 10-pack for $41.90, or you can get any of them for 50% off.

One of the games they’re selling in this deal is The Longest Journey, a critically-acclaimed adventure game, and one of the finest examples of story-telling in video games.  You can have it for just $4.99.  My highest possible recommendation goes to that one.
