Since its debut in 2005, Dancing With the Stars has ably satisfied the public’s appetite to see talented performers work to mold celebrities into credible dancers. Now in its 23rd season, the venerable reality competition show has recruited a new cast of (quasi) famous faces eager to become this year’s dancing king/queen.
The most famous—not to mention infamous—of these faces is American Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte. The 12-time Olympic medalist has garnered negative press following his admission of lying about being robbed while at the Rio Games. No doubt Lochte and his team hope that his Dancing With the Stars appearance will get him back in the public’s good graces, while ABC counts on viewer interest to draw higher ratings.
The celebrity cast for Season 23 of Dancing With the Stars was announced on Tuesday’s Good Morning America. Among the more notable names: model and talk show host Amber Rose, former Texas governor Rick Perry, and gold-winning Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez. Other names include former Detriot Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson, singer/producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, rapper Vanilla Ice, Brady Bunch star Maureen McCormick, and Taxi star Marilu Henner.
Season 23 of Dancing With the Stars premieres on September 12 on ABC.
