Dead Space 3 Including Microtransactions For Purchasing “Better” Weapons

Dead Space 3 will feature microtransactions that allow players to acquire an edge over the necromorphs via the purchasing of parts for "better" weaponry.

When going into the upgrade screen believing you have accumulated enough resources to strengthen your arsenal, but don't, a screen prompt appears stating: (Probably pretentiously) "Cannot craft. Additional resources required."

These parts mind you, can be picked up by the player by "scavenger bots" you send out, but alternatively can be bought through the in-game store. One of the associate producers of Dead Space 3 stated, "You can buy resources with real money, but scavenger bots can also give you the currency that you can use on the marketplace, so you don't have to spend [real world] dollars." Sadly she was unable to clarify how much money will have to be spent, but she did say that there will be several different packs of in-game currency being available that will be priced at varying amounts.

Now you might be concerned with balancing right out of the gate, (Why wouldn't you be) well think again.  She has an answer for that too, "There are a lot of weapon parts that are only available to buy later in the game. Unless you're playing through it again."
