Microsoft Speed Wheel

On your marks get set and go! Calling all fans of racing games, Xbox 360 has a surprise for you. On July 22nd Microsoft confirmed that they have a wireless speed wheel in the works. The price of the wheel will be around $45, a lot cheaper than what we would expect. The thing about this wireless wheel is its relationship to Kinect. Would it make sense for you to go out and buy a wireless wheel when Kinect should allow you to steer with just your hands? It appears Microsoft has gone the same route as Nintendo, releasing a wheel peripheral that should (in theory) be unnecessary along with an anticipated racing game.

The usually innovative Mircosoft may hit the dumps with this new wheel. I mean think about it; Kinect was made in order to play games hands free - seperating it from the motion control of the Wii. First they want to be different, and now following in the footsteps of the Wii wheel? Not a good look for Microsoft.

This new wireless speed is coming to a store near you alongside the release of Forza Motorsport 4 on October 14th, 2011.
