Static Shock Gets A New Ongoing Series

It’s been what? Seven years! While Static Shock was one of the most successful TV Shows of it’s time, it only had four seasons. While Static Shock’s TV series ended in 2004 books, and eventually comics, were what got Static into mainstream continuity. Static has served on the Teen Titans in years past, and has had his own ongoing series also. However, that was only ten years ago. Today Static gets (yet again) another chance at having a series!

Static Shock is a cool superhero. If anything at all, I personally enjoyed his show better than his ongoing comic. However, now DC looks for another chance to see what they can do with Static. Felicia Henderson will be writing the new series starting in May, and will have the artistic talents of Scott McDaniel and Jonathan Glapion on the series as well.

DC talked to Felicia Henderson about bringing Static back into comics:

“I always had my fingers crossed about Static getting his own book, again.  In fact, I stalked Dan DiDio about the idea.  I’m also a big Dwayne McDuffie fan, and if I could choose my real life little brother, he’d be Static!  I love his relationship with his family, particularly with his sister. It feels very grounded and real to me. I love how much he cares about Dakota and that he’s a typical guy in a lot of ways. And nothing’s more fun to write than raging hormones, a dedication to doing the right thing for the right reasons, all while still trying to figure out who you are and what you really want.”
