“Superman” leading lady not Lois Lane? Three actresses emerge

The casting of Lois Lane has been a hot topic of discussion in the blogosphere since the casting of Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel in Zack Snyder’s "Superman" film. However, the female lead in this flick will not be Lois Lane.

Variety reports that there are three actresses in contention to play this currently unknown lead character: Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds), Alice Eve (She’s Out of My League), and Rosamund Pike (An Education). The studio doesn’t want the actress to overshadow Cavill, so any of these actresses would probably fit the studio's desire.

Even so, Kruger’s profile is higher than that of Eve and Pike. She starred in both National Treasure films and in the aforementioned Quentin Tarantino flick. Then again, she isn’t exactly a household name either.

Eve could have a mainstream breakthrough with Edgar Allen Poe film
The Raven later this year, so casting her might mean making the risk that the studio doesn't want to take.

On the other hand,
Pike has been on the verge of a mainstream breakthrough for the past several years with acclaimed turns in
Barney's VersionAn Education, and Made in Dagenham, and doesn't have any projects coming up that would necessarily do the trick. Any of the women could get cast, but I'm thinking that Pike will be stepping into this leading role.

Which of three actresses would you like to see in Snyder’s reboot?
