Amazon plants to create a series based on the 2009 cult movie Zombieland, which starred Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin. Although the stars won’t reprise their roles, the show will still feature the same four characters as survivors trying to outsmart zombies as they search for a home.
Kirk Ward will play the Harrelson role of Tallahassee while Tyler Ross will tackle Eisenberg’s Columbus character. Maiara Walsh and Izabela Vidovic round out the rest of the cast.
The film’s original creative team will helm the project, including producer Gavin Polone and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Eli Craig is directing the pilot.
"Zombieland will strive to break the rules - action, adventure, thrills, chills and laughs and all packed into a half hour format," said creator Paul Wernick. "This is not your average show but Amazon is not your average network.
It is the seventh comedy pilot added to Amazon’s line-up and will be made available on Amazon Instant Video and LOVEFiLM UK. Customer feedback determines which of the pilots will get full-season productions, also to air on Prime Instant Video.
