Amy Brenneman Has Been Added to the Cast of HBO’s The Leftovers

Amy Brenneman is the latest addition to the upcoming HBO show The Leftovers. This will be Brenneman's first project since her role on the series Private Practice, which ended its six year run this past January. Her past television credits also include Judging Amy and Frasier. This series is a drama, created by Damon Lindelof, (Lost) centered around the Rapture, only ithe beginning of the end doesn't happen quite like it is supposed to.  The show will give audiences the stories of the people who did not make it, while living in a world that is forever changed. It is based on a novel of the same name written by Tom Perrotta, who will also co-write the script with Lindelof. Little Children, another of his novels, was made into an Oscar- nominated film as well.

Brenneman will play the character of Laurie Garvey, a woman who has left behind the life she once knew to join a mysterious cult, abandoning her husband and two children. She is married to Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), the police chief and father who is trying to maintain order and normalcy in a world that has completely abandoned those ideals. They join Liv Tyler, who is the most well-known addition to the cast so far (this will also mark Tyler's first role on the small screen). Peter Berg is set to direct the pilot and will be one of the executive producers. Stay tuned for more as new cast memers continue to be added to the show on a regular basis.
