An Animated Pez Movie Is On The Way
"Proving everything can and will become a movie"
I suppose in a world where we have had a
'Battleship' movie, and are set to get ones based on emoticons and Monopoly (the latter helmed by
Gattaca writer/director Andrew Niccol, no less), having a movie based on a candy that comes out of famous characters' necks isn't too much of a stretch.
Variety reports that Envision Media Arts will produce the film, written by Cameron Fay and produced by Lee Nelson and David Buelow.
Nelson, CEO and Founder of Envision Media Arts said, “Pez candy is beloved by children and adults alike. With Cameron Fay we’ve created a world unique to Pez and a story that will touch the hearts."
Presumably the film will follow the lead of recent successes
Wreck-It Ralph and
The Lego Movie, using their premise to create a landscape of well-known licensed characters. Whether they will go
Toy Story's route of having the Pez dispensers come to life, or
Lego Movie's world inhabited by toys is yet to be seen. Maybe they will do something different altogether.
