‘Iron Man 3’ Crosses $300 Million Overseas Ahead of Its North American Debut

Days before what will no doubt be one of (if not the) largest launches of 2013, hotly anticipated superhero sequel Iron Man 3 is already lighting fires overseas having hauled in a colossal $307.7 million in just 8 days.

Considering the fact that Tony Stark’s return is tracking to debut north of $150 million in its Stateside opener, and that the Marvel actionier hasn’t even had the benefit of a second weekend internationally, Iron Man 3 should sit around a jaw-dropping cume of $550 million by Sunday.

Even more impressive is the fact that this overseas launch is ahead of behemoth The Avengers through the same period and has out-grossed the international total for Iron Man, Captain America and Thor.

It even broke the opening day record in China, a title previously held by Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Considering the fact that Michael Bay film wound up with $172.3 million during its run, it is clear the global prospects of Iron Man 3 could be of the billion dollar variety.
