Killzone: Mercenary Details Announced Along With a New Trailer

Gameplay details have today been revealed about the up and coming PlayStation Vita title, Killzone: Mercenary.

Victor Zuylen, the Editor for Killzone.com, posted the details on the PlayStation.com blog, along with a brand new trailer and some screenshots.

According to Zuylen, the new game starts, “…just after the ending of the original Killzone, and revisiting many of the events from the Killzone trilogy, the game puts players in the rugged combat boots of a mercenary named Arran Danner.”

Danner, a former UCA-solider who takes jobs from both the ICA and Helghast, “discovers that the outcome of the war could very well depend on the fate of the Ambassador’s young son. With both sides going through increasingly desperate lengths to get hold of the boy, he begins to wonder whether the price of victory is really worth the paycheck.”

Mercenary, which is scheduled for a September 17 release, will feature nine single length missions, each apparently an hour long in length, plus “a full-fledged multiplayer mode with six maps tailored for eight players and three different game types, including the popular Warzone mode.”

Zuylen also urged awaiting fans of he new title to, “Stay tuned to both [the] PlayStation Blog and Killzone.com over the next few weeks – we’ll have a behind-the-scenes interview with game director Piers Jackson soon, and a closer look at multiplayer.”
