NBC Brings Back ‘Ironside’ After 40 Years

In keeping with the reboot trend, NBC has announced it will be bringing the classic series Ironside back after nearly 40 years as part of their fall lineup. The network has picked up the pilot for an Ironside revamp, with The Sopranos story editor Michael Caleo taking up both the writing and executive producing roles.

This new pilot will follow a tough but bitter police detective who's bound to a wheelchair after a shooting on the job. This proves to be only the beginning however, as Detective Robert T. Ironside (whose name practically begs for wheelchair heroism) continues to solve crimes around San Francisco despite his newly developed disability.

Raymond Burr as Ironside
The new Ironside is produced by Universal Television, Davis Entertainment and Yellow Brick Road. ItĀ is also executive produced by David Semel (of American Horror Story: Asylum,) Yellow Brick Road's Teri Weinberg, and Davis Entertainment's John Davis and Jon Fox.

The original Ironside, starring Raymond Burr in the titular role, ran on NBC from 1967 to 1975.
