FX seems to be racking up all the new shows lately, with another project starring Paul Giamatti. The latest addition to the network is a new a dark and comedic drama called Hoke. The new series has already nabbed its star in Giamatti, who will play the title role. Paul Giamatti is an actor well-known by most people, appearing in such films as Sideways and Cinerella Man. He was also nominated for his role as John Adams, the TV mini-series based on the former president. The role of Hoke Moseley will mark Giamatti's first appearance on a television show, although the role sounds perfect for him.
Giamatti's character, Hoke Moseley, is a police detective who is very aggressive and possibly insane, circa Miami around 1985. The series will be a story of his mid-life crisis and of murder, as we dive deeper into his wild and mysterious character. It is based on a series of novels by Charles Willeford: Sideswipe, New Hope For the Dead, and The Way We Die Now. The pilot will be written by Scott Frank, who will also direct the pilot and be in charge of the show, if it becomes an ongoing series. The show is set to be filmed in Miami filming will begin later this year. Hoke joins two other drama pilots which are currently in production at FX, The Strain and Tyrant.
