Robert Kirkman to Head New Exorcism Series

Looks like Robert Kirkman will be delving into a whole new realm of the supernatural.

The “Walking Dead” creator will be moving from zombies to demons as he begins developing an exorcism series with distributor Fox International Channels. The show will be based on Kirkman’s own upcoming comic book series based in the creepy world of exorcism.

Kirkman, who also wrote the “Walking Dead” comic series as well as “Thief of Thieves,” describes this new series as the story of “Kyle Barnes, who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now, as an adult, he embarks on a spiritual journey to find answers, but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it.”

“The Walking Dead” executive producer David Albert will be teaming up with Kirkman again in this new endeavor that FIC exec Sharon Tal Yguado says is a “reinvention of the exorcism genre.” Seems like we’ve heard that phrase before with movies like “The Last Exorcism” and “The Exorcism of Emily Rose.”

What do you think? Will Kirkman be able to pull off a complete reinvention of a genre, or will this new series basically be “The Walking Dead” with possessions? Looks like we’ll have to wait and find out.
