Smallville Alumni Casting News

The pilot season has reached that stage where we get more and more casting news from projects picked up for the May showdown. Former Smallville Alumni Kristin Kreuk (who played Lana Lang) will star in The CW reboot of the 1980s series Beauty and the Beast. It's loosely based on the CBS original, this version centers on a New York homicide detective (Kreuk) who teams up with a military veteran turned into a beast by a failed experiment.

Also featured in the news this week was Cassidy Freeman, Smallville's Tess Mercer, who will soon make her debut as a vampire in The CW's The Vampire Diaries. The series producer Julie Plec took the time to reveal some details on Freeman's vampire and her impact on the life of a major character.

All this comes on the heels of Erica Durance's Wonder Woman guest appearance in NBC's Harry's Law, and the announcement in January that the peacock network was in talks to pick up Saving Hope, an upcoming Canadian medical drama starring the same Durance (who played the intrepid reporter Lois Lane in Smallville).

It would seem the ladies in the life of Smallville's Clark Kent have been keeping busy lately.
