This year's WWE game, WWE 2K17, was officially announced last night during Raw for an October release. For the past several years, WWE goes big with their pre-order bonuses to the point they're bigger than the game itself. From The Rock for 2K14, Sting in 2K15 and The Terminator in last year's game, this year brings back another wrestler from the good old days of the 90s. After being absent for a couple years in WWE games, Goldberg makes his comeback to the WWE in gaming form. The announcement trailer can be seen below.
Goldberg was arguably "the man" back in WCW in the late 90s. From his long undefeated streak, his smash mouth power style of wrestling and fans chanting his name, he was the biggest thing in wrestling at that time. He did have a brief stint in the WWE from March 2003 to March 2004, but looks like this new marketing deal for WWE 2K17 is the beginning of more for Goldberg back in the WWE like when Sting finally made his mark in a WWE ring. It is more likely just a legends deal instead of an in-ring return and maybe the headliner of next year's Hall of Fame class.
WWE 2K17 comes out this October for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
