FX President Updates the Status on Superhero Drama ‘Powers’

"Powers" is a popular comic book series by Brian Bendis and Michael Oeming that debuted in 2000 to critical acclaim. It follows two homocide detectives named Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim who investigate crimes involving superheroes and villans. Their division in the homocide department is called Powers.

Ever since the series debuted in 2000, people have been trying to get it on screen. First in 2001 through Sony Pictures until 2011 when a pilot for a television series of the comic books was greenlit by FX and Sony. Filming was completed for the pilot in August 2012 but FX delayed production on the series after deciding they weren't happy with the pilot and wanted it recast with a more gritty crime drama approach. Ever since then, fans have been wondering if the show will ever air. However, according to a recent interview, FX President John Landgraf has said that they have found a new show creator named Charlie Huston who is joining forces author Brian Bendis and they are now developing a whole new pilot with a new tone and a completley different cast. No word on who will be in the new cast, when production will begin on the pilot, or when the show is set to premiere.
