Idris Elba in talks to join ‘Star Trek 3’

Hackney lad Idris Elba is a fan favorite having roles in Thor, Prometheus, Pacific Rim, The Wire and Luther and a massive star in Britain. Now Elba look set to join another big franchise with Variety reporting he is talks to join the  Star Trek series as the villain in third movie. Since the reboot in 2009 the Star Trek series has earn $853.1 Million and both movies were met with high critical praise, though hardcore Trekkies are more hostile, particularly toward Star Trek Into Darkness. J.J. Abrams, director of the previous two movies has moved onto to direct Star Wars Episode VII - The Force Awakens, but will remain as a producer. The Fast and Furious series director Justin Lin will be helming the third/thirteen entry in the series, depending on how you look at it. Idris-Elba-Luther TV writer Doug Jung (Dark Blue) and Simon Pegg are taking on the writing duties and the major cast members Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho and Anton Yelchin are all respiring their roles. Star Trek 3 is set for a July 8, 2016 release date. Elba has a busy slate at the moment, having roles in Cary Fukunaga's Beasts of No Nation, Disney's The Jungle Book, London set drama A Hundred Streets, Harmony Kane's The Trap and a voice role in Finding Dory. Elba is currently in the action-thriller The Gunman and will appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
