John Green going Hollywood Again

John Green, acclaimed author and YouTube celebrity, has had a great summer. His wildly popular young adult novel The Fault in our Stars saw its big screen adaptation premiere this June. The film released by Fox and starring Shailene Woodley proved to be a hit. It opened at the top of the box office and has since grossed over 150 million dollars, worldwide. Sarah-Polley-TFCA-Award-22-e1357746537436 Paramount is now slated to adapt John Green’s debut novel "Looking for Alaska"  into a feature film. The Hollywood Reporter writes that Paramount has held the rights to the novel since 2005. Back then, Josh Schwartz was given top honors as director and scriptwriter. Despite the script landing a spot on the coveted Black List, the project failed to go into production. Fast-forward 9 years and one massively successful film, it looks like Paramount is intending to revive the project. jglays_LargeWide Paramount has passed on scriptwriting duties to director Sarah Polley. Her films include indie-fare Away from Her, Take this Waltz, and the documentary about her family’s shocking secret Stories We Tell. As of yet, the project does not have a director, although it is possible that Polley will be tapped to direct the film as well. Either way, I bet it all sounds like money in the bank for nerdfighter John Green.
