Matt Reeves to Helm 3rd Planet of the Apes film

As reported by Deadline, Director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In) has now signed on to both write and direct the 3rd installment of Planet of the Apes. The trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was released late last year and is set to be released on July 11th, 2014. The sequel of Rise of Planet of the Apes follows Caesar (Andy Serkis) as he’s trying to take over the remnants of mankind, after a majority of Earth’s population has been wiped out by disease. The film stars Gary Oldman (Dracula, Batman Begins), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark ThirtyLawless) and Keri Russell (Mission Impossible IIIThe Americans) as the humans trying to fight back against the primate take over.

With Fox having hired Matt Reeves before the film has come out, shows how much faith they have in what he’s delivered in this anticipated sequel. While we have to wait a few months to see the sequel and even longer for the third film, this reboot of the Planet of the Apes series seems to be in very good hands.
