30 Rock- Reaganing

Last week 30 Rock aired the show live, twice, once for East Coast and West Coast time zones.  This week they’re back to their standard non-live format with the episode “Reaganing”, written by Matt Hubbard and Directed by Todd Holland.  The term “Reaganing” is what Jack calls going 24 hours without making a single mistake.  At the start of the episode, Jack is almost through a day of perfect decisions; when Liz enters his office with a problem involving her lovelife, Jack sees solving her problem as the ultimate challenge to complete his day of Reaganing.

Supernatural – Live Free or TwiHard

This week’s episode of Supernatural, Live Free or TwiHard, as the title suggests, is centered around vampires and some much needed Twilight jokes. As someone who didn’t become a big Supernatural fan until season 3, I’ve always wondered why they have seemingly ignored one of the most classic monsters around. It seems like ghosts and shape-shifters have been used much more than vampires have in its later seasons.

The PAM-10: Best Micro-Budget Films

For all aspiring filmmakers, ultra-low budget films are a way in; the one sliver of light that cuts though the dark of big-budget Hollywood. Even more than that, tackling your own financing gives the creative freedom that ultimately catapults many filmmakers to a much more prestigious status. Though these ultimately flawed films are not everyone’s cup of tea, so to speak, the impact some of the features on this list have had to their respective genres is undeniable. In honour of the release of two tiny-budgeted films over the next two weeks, Paranormal Activity 2 and Monsters, Player Affinity is running down the very best of no-budget filmmaking.

Trailer Tracker: Scream 4, Paul and more

Hello Sydney … whoops, wrong number. I was looking for Trailer Tracker, the weekly feature that serves up all the latest trailers hitting the web. First this week is Scream 4, the either the long overdue or far-too-soon installment (depending on your opinion) of the popular satirical slasher franchise. Next, is the sci-fi comedy Paul and even though not directed by Edgar Right, stars his frequent muses Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and that clip shall be followed by Restless, the macabre drama from Academy Award winner Gus Van Sant starring rising star Mia Wasikowska. We wrap things up with the mysterious thriller featuring Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst, All the Good Things and finally, things get Wrecked with Adrien Brody in a tale of survival and mystery. Don’t hang up, it’s Trailer Tracker.

Goldeneye 007 Story Trailer

The new trailer for the upcoming Goldeneye remake on the Wii focuses on how the writers have updated the classic story.  While the original N64 game was based on the 1995 Pierce Brosnan film of the same name, this Goldeneye “re-imagining” has been updated to be more relevant to modern gamers.  Not only will the game take place in the current socio-economic climate, but it will be replacing Pierce Brosnan’s role as James Bond with Daniel Craig’s version of the character as well.  Developers have also revealed that the current worldwide financial crisis will take a more prominent role in the plot, affecting character motivations and interactions.

Medal of Honor Review

Medal of Honor is a game that garnered skepticism from the start, with a trailer in the Spike VGAs that looked unnervingly like Modern Warfare 2; a trend in games that was appearing at the time. Things got worse for the fledgling remake when the multiplayer beta came out, where critics and players alike bashed the game for the apparent lack of quality and originality, myself included. Being an optimist, I tried to look at the possibility of the positive things that could come out of Medal of Honor. Very few details on single player had been released, meaning that the single player could be good, or alternatively go the other way, with my hopes resting on the former outcome. Now that it’s finally come out though, Medal of Honor is exactly what the beta made it out to be: a poorly constructed, unoriginal, and thoroughly boring game.
