Prototype 2 May Be Coming

While officially only a rumor at the moment, it appears that a sequel to last years Prototype may be in the works. A new trailer that has surfaced at murderyourmaker.com seems to foreshadow that we may have not seen the last of Alex Mercer. It is highly likely that all questions will be answered at the Spike TV Video Game Awards on December 11th. Until then, we only have a very shorter teaser clip, but the fact that it includes a man in a hooded sweatshirt and creatures similar to those from the first game is a good indication of what may be coming. Either way, here is the clip so you can judge for yourself.

The Warrior’s Way Review

The Warrior’s Way is some sort of amazing disaster, a bizarre hybrid of genre, filming techniques, moods, themes and pace. I would not go quite as far to deem it as “so bad it’s good,” though it certainly carries some sort of campy allure I haven’t seen since last 2009’s Viking/alien invasion mash-up Outlander.  This martial arts Western does, however, play more like an initial idea than a fully realized movie and unfortunately carries more than enough similarities to be lumped in with the video game genre — not the most favourable association.

Splatterhouse (X360) Review

The beat ‘em up genre has been mostly lacking as of late. This is no surprise as it seems the gameplay nearly always boils down to “do tons of light attacks, toss in a few heavy attacks, you win.” Throughout the years, developers have tried to add interesting variety to the genre (combos, leveling up, open worlds, etc.) and occasionally, it all falls into place and is fairly fun. Is Splatterhouse one of those rare occurrences?

Modern Family – Mother Tucker

I believe this is the first time we have seen a member of Cam’s family. His mom comes to visit him and Mitchell and the results are a bit underwhelming. Throughout the show’s run we have heard about Cam’s rural family and how Mitchell usually mocks it. I kind of expected more from this storyline… all we were given is inappropriate touching. Yeah, that sounds interesting but it just comes off as weird. Not weird as in uncomfortable, but weird as in a weak storyline. The bath scene is pretty funny and ultimately their relationship is stronger because of it. It was also interesting to see how supportive and accepting Cam’s mother was of their relationship. We have to wonder about how she took it when they first met and to me that’s the part we should have been shown.

Two Worlds: The Musical

If you were a fan of the first Two Worlds game by SouthPeak Interactive, you probably already know that the sequel Two Worlds II has only been released in Europe.  The rest of us have to wait until next year to get our armoured gauntlets on it. The folks at SouthPeak are a wacky band, and they seem to understand how hard it is waiting for a game to hit shelves, so they produced this Two Worlds II music video which will let you commiserate with you fellow RPG fans while listening to an 80’s power ballad.

Like 127 Hours? Try Into the Wild

Christopher McCandless, the focus of Sean Penn’s spectacular Into the Wild, is an amplified, almost superhuman version of Ralston. It takes an extraordinary soul to donate their savings to charity, cast off family expectations, shun the normalcy of everyday urban life, and trek to Alaska, for the sole purpose of living in the wilderness.

127 Hours Review

127 Hours is the latest in a string of well-made films from director Danny Boyle, and is his first film following the huge Oscar-winning success of Slumdog Millionaire. Here he tells the story of Aron Ralston (James Franco), the ill-fated (or not, depending on how you look at it) hiker who journeyed alone into the Canyonlands of Southern Utah, only to fall and pin his arm between a rock and a cavern wall.
