X-Men: First Class Affinity – Magneto

Magneto, the X-Men’s oldest and longest running villain. Good old Max Eisenhardt, good old Erik Magnus Lehnsherr. Good or bad, Magneto has actually been both. In fact he’s probably switch sides more than any other comic character in the Marvel U. Magneto’s first appearance in the world of comics was X-Men #1 (now known as Uncanny X-Men) where he tried to hijack some bombs with his mutant abilities to control all magnetism which means that he can slap around all types of metals and screw with the magnetic frequencies of the planet. The X-Men, then consisting of: Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman and Beast stopped his evil plans, but Magneto escaped capture.

Myths & Legends #4 – Review

We’re four issues into this series and there’s an underlining mystery to everything that’s happening in the book, but it is taking way too get to the point. This issue opens with Brittany as a girl at the zoo… talking to the wolves. That’s right the little girl that talks to wolves is now in charge of psychiatric care for a mental institution. After that we’re thrust back into the group as the security guard starts beating on the girl that cuts herself asking what happened (note: This is the second time he’s kicked her ass). Problem, if you didn’t read the last issue it’s not clear to you what happened. No one recaps it in dialog other than to say that the girl should know something that she clearly doesn’t.

Long Books to Read Over the Long Weekend

Yay Memorial Day weekend! While everyone else is out camping or BBQ’ing you may find yourself uninvolved with any of those things and as such you should take this opportunity to catch up on some books that require a lot of time to read. Although, you could find yourself camping with a bunch of inexperienced friends that have one tent between five people or stuck and a horrid family BBQ or one hosted by a friend of your wife or girlfriends and instead of talking to people you can read a book! Who cares it’s her friends right? The real question comes down to what you should be reading? What’s a good long book that’s self-contained that you can actually finish reading before heading back to work/school on Tuesday? Well let’s take a look shall we?

Conan: Road of Kings #5 – Review

This is another title that I jumped right into without reading previous issues and I have to say that it wasn’t a bad experience as a new reader to the series. There’s something about the character of Conan that fires that neuron in the brain that controls excitement. In Conan’s world being a barbarian is actually not a good thing, but then you see just how bad-ass he is and you can’t help but think that everyone else in his world is wrong… barbarians are cool!

Brimstone #1 – Review

I’ll give Zenescope one thing, their books do not shy away from racially offensive descriptors when appropriate for the story. Even still some readers may be taken back by just how many are in Brimstone, their new western that was recently released. You may have missed it since it didn’t have a beautiful seductress on the cover, unless you tracked down the Greg Horn variant. No, Brimstone is not your average Zenescoperelease as its main characters are all male and lacks their usual Fairy Tale element.
