Hands-On With Yesterday

Adventure Games have a tough time in the modern market.  With their emphasis on story-telling, intellectual challenge and tried & true mechanics, the genre is a hard sell for audiences that continually seek better graphics, online multiplayer and “The same, but MORE” gameplay.  Still, there are several prominent developers who specialize in this genre, among them is Pendulo Studios .  With series like Runaway, and last year’s The Next BIG Thing to their credits, they are known for light-hearted projects, but their upcoming game Yesterday is taking the series in a new direction.  A creepy direction.  Player Affinity got the chance to try out a few chapters of the new project and explored the beginning of this dark storyline.

Batwing #6 – Review

With this issue, Batwing secures its place as one of the true gems of the New 52 as it presents some of the final pieces of David Zavimbe’s origin without missing a beat of its present day story. This is how it is done. This book is the example of what the entire New 52 line should have been.

Batwing intercepts Massacre in Egypt to prevent the death of yet another member of Africa’s legendary superhero team, the Kingdom. As that plays out, the story gives glimpses into more of David’s path, showing his frustration with becoming part of a corrupt police force and his recruitment by Batman. This battle in Egypt brings the series full circle to the opening scene of the very first issue.

The Innkeepers Review

Catwoman #5 – Review

It’s funny, it’s sexy, it’s extremely flawed, Catwoman #5 could be enjoyed, but does little justice to Selina’s developing character, who should be declared legally idiotic by the end of this issue.

We open with Catwoman plummeting a thousand stories to her ‘death.’ With some quick whip-work (and after dealing with the meta-human Reach), Selina starts spending the 400 grand she stole. It’s all fun and games until the money-laundering police are on her tail as well as Detective Alvarez, possibly the only straight cop in the Gotham City Police force.
