April Movie Preview

Well, the first quarter of 2011 has been a disappointment. Although a few crowd-pleasers and acclaimed films slipped out of March (Rango, The Adjustment Bureau, Limitless), none of the most hyped films have earned it. April looks to change that very quickly, with some of the films coming out tomorrow getting great early buzz. At the very least, we have 16 films to preview for you, so something ought to get it done before summer movie season kicks into high gear.

10 Movie Deaths by Explosion that Bear Repeating

Death by explosion is a terrific (albeit PG-13) way to kill off a significant character in any action movie or thriller. A loud boom with pillars of fire and usually the right touch of slow motion in post-production makes a climactic death scene a fitting one and serves as a very visceral catharsis in any movie experience. In other words, it works well every time you watch it.

Elephantmen: Man or Elephantman #1 – Review

This one shot issue is being used for new readers to jump onto the series and frankly it does that well. If you’ve never read Elephantmen before then this issue will walk you through the world and events that make the comic. The flip side of that coin is that if you are reading Elephantmen then you’ll be treated to a very bizarre story that acts like a “What If?” tale more than anything else. The story picks up almost instantly where the last issue of the ongoing left off. Hip has just spent the night with Miki only when he wakes up he’s human and no longer a Hippo Elephantman. The thing is that it’s the norm for him as he thinks that he’s a human. Miki tries to seduce him some more before he takes off to work, but Hip heads to the showers any ways. Too bad Miki joins him as she won’t take no for an answer.

MegaCon 2011 – Rumors and Facts

Well Megacon 2011 is under way this weekend and beside fraudulent artists the big story is that after Brightest Day, Geoff Johns will be moving over to a monthly Aquaman title. That’s where the facts portion of this article ends. You may remember last weekend we picked up on the self generated rumor from DC comics about a superstar writer and artist taking over on JLA well it looks like the it may be Geoff Johns. But wait the rumor gets better! He might be co-writing with Grant Morrison! But wait it gets better! The artist is rumored to be none other than Jim Lee! Again this is just rumors, but its seems likely since DC blundered and told us that there was a new team taking over the book and that Johns is confirmed for one more title outside of Green Lantern, Flash and Aquaman. So what do you think? Do you want to see Geoff and Grant team up on JLA and once again make it a book worth reading?

Xbox 360 Games to Expect in April

April doesn’t have many big hits but the two it has, Mortal Kombat and Portal 2, are guranteed to be humongous hits.

Michael Jackson: The Experience
Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
Publisher: Ubisoft
Release Date: April 12th

Michael Jackson: The Experience, already released on the Wii, will now finally be arriving on your Xbox 360 (and PS3 if you’re that kind of guy) console and will feature Kinect support. So you can kind of dance like Michael but not really. Not at all actually. I don’t exactly see the point in this project but maybe MJ fans will love it.
