30 Rock – Plan B

Alas, all of the intriguing subplots raised on last week’s reality spoof “Queen of Jordan”  will have to go unanswered because this week 30 Rock jumped back to their usual format with “Plan B”.  While the episode is consistently funny, and brings back some great characters from previous seasons, it never quite hits any highs, or delivers many laugh out loud moments.

Sports Movie Madness: Soccer (Football) Movies – Round 2

The first round of this section of Sport Movie Madness has produced two clear front runners: Bend It Like Beckham andThe Damned United both easily beating their competition. The Football Factory had a narrow victory, beating Shaolin Soccer 5 – 4. It good to see the better hooligan film (despite being less known in North America) going through over the more popular film, Green Street Hooligans. And Victory was able secure a comfortable win, fitting for its title.

Portal 2 – Preview

A lot of sequels add in more guns, more enemy types, or more explosions, but there’s one upcoming shooter sequel that’s adding in something else: More laughs.  The first Portal game had a few moments of dark comedy, but after a look at the first few minutes of the sequel in a video recently released in the wake of PAX East, it’s clear that Portal 2 is going to be crammed full of laughs.

Outland Preview

What do you get when you take the visuals of Tron, the story of Dissidia: Final Fantasy, and gameplay of Prince of Persia? Why, you get the new PSN game Outland!
From what has come out so far we can tell that the game centers around
the conflict of the two natural forces of this world. It’s your job to
end this while harnessing the power of both sides to do so (this being
done by transitioning from using dark or light energy — red or blue).
While using one or the other, you are able to use certain things that
share that energy and not be affected by that engery when it attacks.
However the opposite is also true. To do damage you must be in the
corresponding energy.

Archer – Stage Two Review

Tonight’s Archer was… wow. Never thought that Archer
of all shows would go to cancer as a storyline subject matter.
Thankfully, the episode works like gangbusters and delivered an amazing
progression of Archer’s character, but gave us huge laughs every couple
of minutes… hell, every couple of seconds. If you’re reading this and
you just so happen to work on a NBC show called The Event, pay attention to this episode and this review and maybe you’ll learn what real character development is.

WWE All Stars is WWE and THQ trying to venture away from the hardcore wrestling fans that they dedicate their Smackdown vs. Raw franchise to and trying to be a bit more kid friendly focused. From the gargangeous models of the wrestlers to the fun juggling of characters that you can sometimes do, one thing is for sure, WWE All Stars is silly.

Marineman #4 – Advanced Review

Swimming at the beach is now safe! As long as you know somebody like Steve Ocean who can breath underwater! In an age where every character seems to have a dark past, Marineman is the chiselled boy scout image incarnate. Steve Ocean’s (Marineman) secret is no longer a secret. He was an oceanographer celebrity. His abilities were revealed to the world in issue two when he jumped into the ocean to rescue his friend and he was underwater for roughly an hour. Issue three was an origins story and now issue four escalates the drama.

Duke Nukem Forever – Hands On Preview

I’ve joked that I would not believe this game exists until after I’ve played it.  In development for fifteen years,Duke Nukem Forever has long been the butt of many vaporware jokes (Including a few of my own). However at PAX East there was a demo on-hand, and I can say that I have played it, and I confirm that the game does exist. Based on what I’ve seen from the demo, it should be fun to play for shooter enthusiasts, and a treasure-trove of nostalgia for Duke fans.
