On March 1, Swedish shooting masters DICE and publisher EA will formally announce Battlefield 3. Will the legendary shooter finally appear on consoles in its most pure form, as suggested by the inclusion of the Battlefield 3 beta in certain copies of Medal of Honor?
The PS3 has posed quite a challenge to hackers since its release. Thanks to a solid OS and numerous firmware updates (hey, at least they’re good for something,) Sony has managed to keep would-be hackers at bay. For years, it seemed as though the PS3 was a puzzle that the modding community would never be able to fully crack. But last month, all of that changed.

The game will be released on the PlayStation Network at a price of $14.99. The first Bionic Command Rearmed was a remake of the original 1988 NES title, and Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 is set to feature many of the elements from the first remake but will also contain some new gameplay mechanics, new weapons and a multiplayer mode.
Continuing the trend of obscure gaming consoles being resurrected on PSN, Hudson has released a list of TurboGrafx-16 that will come to PSN sometime this month. Like last month’s Neo Geo releases, the TG16 titles being released can loosely be considered classics, and there will be a whole swarm of them coming around the same time. Although no specific prices or release dates have been announced, it would be reasonable to assume that they will hover around eight to ten dollars, like the Neo Geo games, and there are only three more Tuesday PSN updates left in the month, so we should be seeing these titles soon. So Sony finally rings in the new year with the first new PlayStation Network content for 2011. There are no full new store releases this week, but there are a couple of smaller games and demos which should be worth a look coming out on PSN.
When you get a bunch of people together and tell them to agree on what the best games of the year were, no one is going to leave the room completely happy. Personal favorites fall by the wayside when a consensus has to be reached, and while we stand by all of our selections for the various awards we came up with, we all have stuff we’d like to see get recognized that would otherwise fall through the cracks. So here we are: the members of the PS3 team and the games that may not have been the best all year, but are close to our hearts. These are our favorite games that didn’t manage to win any of the awards.
