Kinect Off to “Quiet Start” In Japan

Kinect may be the bee’s knees this holiday season in America, but it had a much more muted reception for its Japanese release. According (via 1up) to a report from Media Creates, the company which tracks hardware and software sales in Japan, the Kinect sold 26,000 units during its launch on the weekend of Nov. 20 & 21. Barring a huge holiday rush the Japanese market has a long way to go to catch up to the 950,000 Kinects sold in America as of Nov. 15, ten days after its U.S. release.

New Assassin’s Creed to Hit Next Year

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood has only been out for a little over a week and Ubisoft has already announced they are preparing a fourth installment of the series for release next year.

This announcement, reported by MCV, comes close on the heels of Brotherhood’s European release, where it sold over one million copies in less than a week. This makes it Ubisoft’s fastest-selling game in Europe and one of its biggest global franchises.

Geoffroy Sardin, Ubisoft’s marketing and sales chief for Europe, Middle East and Asia, declared Brotherhood as the best launch in the history of the company’s European sales. He also chalked up the game’s success to the fact that Ubisoft “transformed the brand from a single player one to a multiplayer one.”

Giving Thanks to Gaming

Go to any video game message board and you are bound to come across this phrase – “Games today are stupid! They were so much better when I was younger, back when they had more challenge/depth/length/story/nostalgia/mascots/two-dimensions!” It’s a common chorus, though those who say it often neglect how some of the changes to gaming have vastly improved the pastime.

Since this past week marked Thanksgiving as well as the fifth anniversary of the Xbox 360, I though I would take a moment to share my appreciation for a few of the things this console generation that have made our leisure time a bit easier, a bit more social, and simply a bit more cool.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (X360) Review

Assassin’s Creed is a very different game. Though for all those who managed to make it through the slightly tedious adventure with Altair, found that the game was more of a hidden gem than blade. However, the second game brought back what we loved, and then some! It was obvious that Ezio had it down before, but can he again while he’s in his 40’s? The answer is a overwhelming yes.

The story takes place right after the end of Assassin’s Creed 2. Ezio leaves the vault after listening to the hologram of Minerva, and walks out to find Borgia ran his fat Pope ass out of there in his absence. However, Mario quickly comes to help him escape. After his return to Monteriggioni he decides to not go after Borgia. However, his son, Cesare Borgia desides to go after Ezio and the other Assassin’s. He then attacks Monteriggioni and nearly destroys it. Ezio manages to get most of the people out, but fails to save Mario. To make matters worse they also manage to get away with the Apple of Eden. It is because of this that Ezio decides to finally finish the Borgia once and for all. Meanwhile in the present, Desmond, after fleeing from the Templar at the end of Assassin’s Creed, is forced into hiding with Rebecca, Lucy, and Shaun. The place they choose for their new location turns out to be a modern Monteriggioni. It is from here that they hope to find the memories they need to finally get their hands on the Apple of Eden. The story its self is about on par with the previous, but do not expect  a short ride.
