Don’t Play Kinect Games Before Nov. 4th

Due to retailer errors, several Microsoft fans across the country have received Kinect games early. These games are, of course, unable to be played before the official November 4th release of Kinect, but that did not stop some gamers who obtained early copies of Kinect launch titles to put them into their consoles.

Costume Quest (X360) Review

Costume Quest is a game that targets your inner child with pinpoint accuracy and drags it out into the daylight. From its cartoony aesthetics to its whimsical story about kids transforming into robots, ninjas and monsters, I was left with a big, goofy grin on my face while playing this game.

It’s the clever way that Costume Quest takes standard RPG mechanics and dresses them up as Halloween traditions that is its biggest strength. Enemies aren’t randomly encountered on a field; instead you fight monsters by trick-or-treating at different houses, some of which have candy-giving grownups while others hide treat-stealing monsters. Instead of money, you use your accumulated candy to purchase items (which come in the form of stat-boosting badges) and new abilities are learned by assembling new costumes for your party members to wear.

Bethesda has made the Mojave Wasteland a bit tamer this week with the release of the first patch for Fallout: New Vegas. New Vegas, though well-received by critics, has endured numerous complaints of bugs since shipping last week. These have ranged from floating enemies to gameplay freezes to the corruption of saved data.

Dead Rising 2 Hits 2 Million Copies Sold

It seems that Capcom’s zombie killin’, chainsaw usin’… zombie killin’ game Dead Rising 2 has surpassed two million copies within its first month of release. I’m a bit surprised by this, in all honesty. I’m assuming the “pre-lc” that was released (Case Zero) did wonders for the sales numbers but not even I expected that many sold, that quickly; especially when Dead Rising 1 sold only around one million copies.

“Capcom is pleased to confirm that since its release at the end of September Dead Rising 2 has achieved  global shipment numbers of over two million units,  bringing the total number of  units of the Dead  Rising franchise shipped worldwide to date to over four  million. The achievement of Dead Rising 2 is a result of the successful collaboration between Capcom and Vancouver based developer Blue Castle Games.”

Hot Pursuit Demo to Make Quick Getaway

Need for Speed fans should race to the Xbox Live Marketplace tomorrow as the demo for the series’ latest game will only be available for a limited time.

EA will make the Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit demo available tomorrow, but will remove it from the marketplace on Nov. 9. The publisher has not given an explanation for the demo’s limited availability at this time, though it does include access to the “autolog” feature which acts similar to a social networking site, in that it lets you keep track of your friends’ performance in the game.

NBA Jam Switches Gears

As some might have know, NBA Jam will soon be on systems other than the Wii. However PS3 and 360 owners will be getting a bit more. For any non-Wii owners looking at downloading NBA Jam when it hits…well, I have some bad news. The game will no longer be a downloadable game for Xbox Live Arcade or PSN. Instead the game will be shipping out in a disc based format, and at the price of $49.99. But that’s not all sports fans! Unli
