Luke Evans in Talks to Join ‘Fast Six’ as Villain

The unstoppable “Fast and Furious” franchise may have found a villain for its sixth instalment, as Luke Evans is reportedly in negotiations with Universal for a starring role. Evans would be joining series stars Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, as well as returning Fast Five addition Dwayne Johnson, but few plot details are scarce. last month, MMA-champ and Haywire star Gina Carano began negotiations for a role alongside Johnson as a DEA agent. Universal’s transitioning of the franchise from racing flicks to crime capers paid off hugely with the fifth film, which earned over $600 million worldwide and gave the series its first positive reception from both fans and critics since the original.

‘Avengers 2’ Announced … Duh

Disney just announced that The Avengers is getting a sequel! OK so all kidding aside, The Avengers getting a sequel was pretty much a given from the start, although raking in $200 million over its opening weekend certainly didn’t hurt its future prospects. Disney CEO Bob Iger made the announcement today, citing the film’s explosive debut as “a great illustration of why we like Marvel so much.”

Six Things We Want In ‘The Avengers 2’

After being hinted at and setup over four years worth of superhero movies, the unprecedented collaboration paid off big time (+$200 million in 3 days big), and now Marvel is prepping for phase 2 of theatrical master plan. Most of us here at Playeraffinity were as thrilled with the first outing as everyone else was, but we’ve got a few suggestions to make sure this ultimate crossover wasn’t just a one-hit wonder. This is definitely the most important factor determining the franchises’ future; the actors have all signed on for multi-film deals but further guidance from writer and director Joss Whedon is still in question. While Marvel will definitely be trying to get some of its lesser known heroes into their own pictures before Avengers 2, that shouldn’t limit the roster to just folks with a film under their belts. By the time The Avengers rolls into its last act and the team has finally assembled, it’s hard to imagine anyone or anything stopping them, whether it’s an alien army or a malevolent demigod. Putting them up in Avenger mansion would be a definite downgrade from a flying fortress, but the Tower is easily the more stylish option. Watching Hulk steer a robo-centipede into Grand Central Station was pretty cool, but there’s only so many ways to blow-up a major metropolitan city. Moving the action out of New York and even off-planet would help capture the immense scope many of The Avengers’ missions have. Thanos is an interesting, extremely deadly villain in the Marvel universe who would present an unprecedented threat to The Avengers, but he’d also be a tricky adversary to pull off correctly.
