Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga Review

Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga is an apology. It
apologizes to
those who bought its earlier iteration: Divinity
II: Ego Draconis
. You see, Larian Studios, the developer behind both
games,
released a bug-ridden and overly difficult game in January of 2010.
Players and
reviewers alike saw the game’s potential, but were often turned off by
the
problems mentioned above.

Well, Larian listened. In
November of 2010, they released The
Dragon Knight Saga
. They basically took Ego
Draconis
and fixed the majority of complaints, while also including
an
expansion pack called Flames of Vengeance.

Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad Review

Back in 2006, Tripwire Interactive released an incredibly realistic and tactical multiplayer FPS by the name of Red Orchestra,
set in World War II. It was clear from its release that Tripwire had
struck a nerve. Some lauded it for the intense realism and satisfying
gameplay that came with it while others put it on a pedestal as an
example of how realism can’t be fun. No matter the division, Red Orchestra received several awards, and a steady community which is still playing it to this day. Now, Tripwire has released the sequel, Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad,
with heavy expectations set on it to live up to its predecessor. Does
it? The short answer is that it actually exceeds those expectations. For
the long answer, the why, you’ll have to read on.

Pirates of the Black Cove Review

Pirates of the Black Cove can be described as an adventure real time strategy RPG. But it’s much easier to see it as a modern remake of Sid Meier’s Pirates. For those who haven’t heard of it, Sid Meier’s Pirates and its 2005 remake were pirate simulators that combined numerous gameplay elements and featured ship-to-ship combat, sword fighting, a vast sea to sail and governors’ daughters to woo. Despite the fun fusion of style’s there really haven’t been any other games that have capture the life of a pirate quite so well(Sans maybePirates of the Burning Sea), so it’ll be interesting to see if Pirates of the Black Cove can compete with the PC gaming classic.

King Arthur: Fallen Champions Review

Being a newbie to the King Arthur series of strategy RPG’s I approached King Arthur: Fallen Champions with cautious optimism. I’ve never tried King Arthur before, but I’ve heard it compared to the Total War games and I have a history of sucking at those games. On the other hand, some gamers have described it as a real-time version of Heroes of Might and Magic and that has me interested to dive into the series with the latest installment in the series, King Arthur: Fallen Champions.

Deus Ex Human Revolution PC Review

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a game that has been hyped to be the true successor to the original Deus Ex, a game that is considered by many to be a classic in the RPG genre, being one of the first to offer a large amount of choice to the player. With such high expectations, there’s plenty of weight on Human Revolution’s shoulders. Luckily, however, it lives up to the expectations, as both a Deus Ex game, and as a modern release.

Achron – Review

The world of strategy games is a vast one. There are epics on the Total War scale, turn based series like Heroes of Might and Magic and Sid Mier’s Civilization, squad focused tactics games like Dawn of War 2 and more classic RTS games like the Command and Conquer series and Starcraft. Despite this, one thing that almost no strategy game has tackled is Time Travel and that’s exactly the premise behind Hazardous Software’s Achron.

Hector: Badge of Carnage Episode 2 Review

Ever since I finished the iOS version of Episode 1 of Hector: Badge of Carnage back when it was a brand new release, I’ve been awaiting the next chapter in the story of the crude but amusing Inspector Hector. While the PC re-release of the game was certainty good, it’s only intensified my desire to play the next episode in the series and now that desire has finally been sated by the release of Hector: Badge of Carnage Episode 2 – Senseless Acts of Justice.
