Duke Nukem Forever – PC Review

At this point, Duke Nukem Forever has become a legend, regardless of it’s quality. It has been in development hell for the past 14 years, and considered dead for a while, only to be rescued by Gearbox Studios and 2K. Now, it’s been released, and while the fact that it has been finished at all is something of a minor miracle, the actual game is far from miraculous.

EVGA GTX 560 Ti Superclocked Review

The EVGA Nvidia 560 Ti Superclocked is EVGA’s budget-priced, high-end 500 series video card, released recently after the GTX 570. It promises high-end performance for (relatively) low cost, but is that true? The video card comes bundled with 2 6-Pin PCI-E power adapters, a DVI to VGA and Mini HDMI to HDMI adapter, user guide, driver and overclocking software disc, and the graphics card itself. As a bonus, it comes with an EVGA Gaming poster.

Frozen Synapse Review

Indie Game success stories are become more and more common in the PC games industry. WhileMinecraft is the most well known, there are plenty of recent indie titles that have made a name for themselves, such as Magicka and Terraria. Mode 7 Games are hoping that Frozen Synapse will achieve similar success.

Terraria Review

Terraria is a new game that was suddenly released, with little fanfare, by developer Re-Logic on May 16. It was anticipated for quite some time as a sort of 2D parallel to Minecraft,
being directly cited as a reference and taking several game elements
into scope. It’s an open world 2D platformer, with world building themes
and an odd RPG flair. It seems like it came out of nowhere in the
gaming world, and it has taken a lot of websites by storm, becoming the
flavor of the month for many people worldwide. Does it live up to this
indie hype, or is it just piggybacking off of an existing concept to
gain its fanfare?

Portal 2 – The Final Hours Review

The original Portal came out of nowhere to become a huge hit for Valve and the general gaming community and for considering the games origins as a small scale student project, it’s completely astounding that it had the success that it had. Portal 2 came out last month after over a year of fans anticipating their next taste of GlaDOS and her deadly neurotoxin and test chambers but the development of Portal 2 is a much bigger story than you would expect.

Section 8: Prejudice Review

The original Section 8 was a unique and innovative science fiction first person shooter that set you as a member of the titular Section 8, a space military force of the future which drops in from orbit to protect mankind’s colonies across the galaxy. It recieved generally positive reviews but didn’t quite make the splash in multiplayer gaming that the developer TimeGate hoped it would.

The Witcher Retro Review

The PC has always been a huge market for bizarre European RPG’s, and in 2008 CD Projekt Red entered the market with The Witcher, an epic story-based RPG adapted from a series of Polish fantasy novels.  It blasted its way into the PC gaming scene, gaining a large and loyal following of fans which CD Projekt Red are hoping to impress with The Witcher 2 when it comes out later this month.

Garshasp: The Monster Slayer Review

Garshasp: The Monster Slayer is a third-person action-adventure hack-and-slash developed by Dead Mage. An indie PC answer to console games of a similar genre and gameplay style, and it is a very noble effort to mimic what many high-budget games accomplish. It is an excellent first try from an up-and-coming studio, but it also manages to fall short on several key aspects. These problems, unfortunately, mortally handicap what could have been a moderately enjoyable experience.

Brink PC Review

Brink is a new teamplay objective-oriented first-person shooter from Enemy Territory developer, Splash Damage.
It is a game that promised to blur the lines between single-player,
multiplayer, and cooperative gameplay, and does a well enough job
delivering on all of these fronts. Unfortunately, it doesn’t end up
doing any of them particularly well, making for a somewhat middling
experience at times. It is a game with great potential (and plenty of
fun despite many issues) that is stunted by poor optimization and some
odd design decisions.

Dwarfs!? Review

Mining seems to be a bit of a thing amongst indie games at the moment, with Minecraft literally taking over the world and finding its way into the hands of millions of gamers.  We don’t know what it is about plunging deep into the depths of the earth in search of precious minerals that is so compelling and addicting but indie developer Power of Two’s debut game Dwarfs!? aims to capture this valuable element.  While Dwarfs!? and Minecraft both feature mining and might seem similar, Dwarfs!? could not be more different. It is actually more of a mix betweenDwarf Fortress and Lemmings.
