Developers We Want Back On PC: Bungie

This has been irritating PC Gamers for over a decade, but that damned XBox stole one of our favorite developers!  Long before Reach fell, Bungie was making shooters, strategy and action games that could only be enjoyed on a PC, and we want them back. Halo may have been console gamers’ first viable shooter franchise, but its developer was making some of the best games for PC all through the 90’s.

There are no zombies in this trailer for Risen 2: Dark Waters, but it does have Pirates, Voodoo, and a giant tentacle-monster.  Made by Axis Animation who stormed the internet a couple of months ago with their artistic, heart-wrenching trailer for Dead Island, this new trailer has plenty of action, and couple of interesting plot twists.

Hector: Badge of Carnage Episode 1 Review

The adventure game market has gone from on its deathbed to putting out more titles than ever before in a matter of years and you could probably credit Telltale games for this. They’ve revived classic adventure gaming franchises like Sam & Max and the Monkey Island series, and to this day are one of the few games developers who have mastered the episodic content model (Glares at Valve). However, Telltale aren’t the only ones making adventure games now, Jane Jensen returned to the genre with the recent Gray Matter and last year Strandlooper entered the adventure game market with Hector: Badge of Carnage for the iPhone, Strandlooper have since teamed up with Telltale to bring the twisted and hilarious world of Hector to PC and Mac.

Hydrophobia Prophecy Preview

I’m a dedicated Malthusian, so I’m happy to see any game address the principles of population control, which were at the core of the story in the XBox Arcade game Hydrophobia.  Sadly, I had to lower myself to playing this game on a console, instead of my PC, and the same was true of Hydrophobia: Pure, the extensive patch for the game that came out a few months after its initial release.  Now I can enjoy myself with the latest update, Hydrophobia Prophesy, which is coming out on the PC next month.  I presume that Playstation 3 owners who read the works of Thomas Malthus will feel the same way, because this former XBox exclusive is also coming out for PS3.

Ace of Spades – Bad Company 2, Eat Your Heart Out

At its core, Ace of Spades is an extremely simplistic game.
The brainchild of Ben Aksoy, AoS takes Ken Silverman’s popular Voxlap-based
Minecraft and remakes it as a 32 player first-person shooter, utilizing the
blocky graphics system to build fortifications, tunnels, bridges and anything
else you can think of; the only ultimate objective is to secure a briefcase
from the opposing team’s base and return it to your own. If you want to build a
bridge across the skies to their base, go for it. If you want to tunnel beneath
and emerge in the lion’s den, have fun. From these basic beginnings, entire kingdoms
can be built and defended.
